Christian Dior Signed Display
An exceptional Christian Dior signed display, celebrating the visionary French couturier whose influence transformed post-war fashion and established one of the world’s most celebrated luxury houses.
At the heart of the presentation is an original Christian Dior autograph, individually mounted alongside imagery celebrating the designer and his extraordinary creative legacy. Whether presented on a period card, document, correspondence or other signed material, the autograph provides a rare and personal connection to Dior himself.
The display is dominated by a striking fashion illustration bearing the unmistakable Christian Dior name, surrounded by an elegant presentation inspired by the refinement and opulence synonymous with the House of Dior. An additional black-and-white portrait of the designer at work provides a further connection to the man behind the legendary name.
Christian Dior founded his Paris fashion house at 30 Avenue Montaigne, presenting his first collection there on 12 February 1947. Its dramatically feminine silhouettes — characterised by sculpted waists, rounded shoulders and voluminous skirts — caused a sensation and became known throughout the world as the “New Look.” The collection helped restore Paris to the centre of international fashion following the austerity of the Second World War.
Dior’s influence reached far beyond haute couture. During the decade in which he designed under his own name, he developed an international luxury business encompassing fashion, accessories and fragrance, including the introduction of Miss Dior alongside his first collection in 1947.
Christian Dior died unexpectedly in 1957 at the age of just 52, only ten years after the debut of his revolutionary first collection. His relatively short period at the helm of the house makes original signed material particularly compelling, providing collectors with a direct connection to the founder rather than the fashion house that continued his name after his death.
The signed element is professionally incorporated into an elaborate presentation featuring rich black and antique-gold framing, with a Dior-inspired patterned background adding depth and visual character. An engraved plaque commemorating Christian Dior (1905–1957) completes the display.
